Come dance and improve your West Coast Swing with All-Star Adela Su! It is such a treat to host her alongside Bonny Branch of Roanoke Westies and gather with the local dance communities. It will be a fun day of learning and dancing together; here is the schedule…
1:30 - 3:00 pm, Intermediate Workshop
3:00 - 3:15 pm, water/rest break
3:15 - 4:45 pm, All Levels Workshop
4:45 - 6:30 pm, dinner break
6:30 - 9:30 pm, Social Dance with beginner lesson by Adela
The “Intermediate” Workshop will expect participants to know the basics (Push Break/Push Tuck/Left Side Pass/Right Side Pass/Whip), be comfortable starting their dance in the closed position, have a good understanding of leverage and compression, and know how to extend and shorten patterns. If you are unsure if this workshop is a good fit for you, please get in touch with Lane or Bonny to discuss.
The “All Levels” Workshop expects participants to know five basics (Push Break/Push Tuck/Left Side Pass/Right Side Pass/Whip). This class is designed for all dancers, beginners, and intermediates.
Last but not least, come use all that you have learned at the Social Dance. Adela will kick it off with a lesson!
Workshops are $22 each or $40 for both. Social Dance is $10.
Adela Su is a West Coast Swing dancer/competitor who has been teaching in Charlottesville/Central Virginia for 25+ years with a fondness for technique/drills instruction. She and her husband, Eddie Karoliussen, offer private lessons, hold group classes, and host the occasional dance.
At The Open Swing Dance Championships in 2022, Adela + Eddie were the recipients of the first Masters Community Inspiration Award. Adela is also a GPDIA certified dance instructor, judge, long-time volunteer (including past-President/Board of Director) with the Charlottesville Swing Dance Society (CSDS), and volunteer (Ombudsman Committee/Chair, Hall of Fame Committee) with the World Swing Dance Council (WSDC). Adela studies with the top professionals to improve her dancing and for teacher training, and she enjoys sharing her knowledge and experiences with others.
Adela is extremely scent-sensitive, even to pleasant-smelling scents, so please do not bring her any flowers (she does like chocolate and wine!) or wear perfume, cologne, body lotion, or any personal products that contain scents. Showering, wearing clean clothes, and deodorant are good!
