This class series will take the basic concepts covered in a Fundamentals class to the next level. While continually reviewing and refining those basics, we can create new patterns by taking our fundamentals and playing with the timing, shape, direction, foot placement, style, etc. The class titles will remain the same, but the content will be more intermediate. To join this class, you must have completed all six weeks of the Fundamentals series in that given style or have equivalent knowledge (please contact me to see if this class is a good fit for you).
Each class begins with 30 minutes of practice and warm-up, overlapping with the participants of the Fundamentals class’s practice time, followed by an hour of instruction beginning at 3:30. A safe and welcoming space is a priority, so please read the code of conduct before attending.
Come learn the character of West Coast Swing, starting with two of the most basic yet valuable varieties of patterns, “Pushes & Passes.” If you are new to a fundamentals class, please read the full description of this format. Instruction will last from 2-3 pm, and the last half hour will be for practice, repetition, questions, and feedback. The “Next Steps” intermediate class participants will be invited to join starting at 3 pm to practice with us.
In the full series, we will explore more techniques and variations in pushes and passes (week 1), tucks (week 2), starters and throw-outs (week 3), whips (week 4), turns and spins (week 5), and musicality (week 6). For the last two weeks of this series, you are strongly encouraged to have attended a few of the previous classes or have some experience.
Registration is optional but strongly encouraged as details are always subject to change. Please reach out to me to let me know you are coming.
