West Coast Swing is a modern social dance that came from Lindy hop and is always evolving as popular music changes. This dance prioritizes connection with your partner, musicality, and improvisation. The West Coast Swing community is worldwide and dances and events can be found in most major cities and beyond.
This week, we learn how to begin our dance clearly and confidently with a starter step and a throw-out. This allows us to explore the connection of a closed hold in WCS.
In the full series, we will explore pushes and passes (week 1), tucks (week 2), starters and throw-outs (week 3), whips (week 4), spinning (week 5), and extensions and musicality (week 6). If you are new to a fundamentals class please read the full description of this format.
